History

Sylvester Tillinghast had a carpenter shop before 1882.  It was then owned by John Franklin and Nelson Watts.  Nelson died in 1895 and Eugene Tracy acquired the building.  Eugene sold the building for $175. to the Ancient Order of United Workers Lodge #15 ( a labor union, many members worked in the Tracy Mill) in 1895.  In 1912 the AOUW sold the building to the Town, which used it as the Town Hall/school for many years.  In 1953 the Town sold the building to the American Legion Post # 52, who had there meetings there until 2007.
